New Anti Journal Page and more Index Cards

Hello Everyone.....

Today is Wednesday, so I have a new page from my Anti Journal to share with you, as well as index cards from Wee Man and I for days 37 and 38.

He used sparkly pens for everything bar the hub caps.

My Day 38

I didn't have a clue what to do for the Mahjong prompt, so I added some flowers to a prepared background and coloured them with watercolours.

Anti Journal Page

Hello Everyone

I will be quick this morning, the sun is shining and I better take advantage of it before the clouds decide to scupper my plans altogether ;)

In my Anti Journal this week:

The prompts for these two pages were to 

Build a Pattern from a Pattern 

and 

Try to Draw Perfect Circles by Hand

For the pattern I used various Pitt pens and Pigma Micron pens and for the circles I used my gel pens.

More ICADs and An Anti Journal Page

Hi there everyone :D

Apologies for the picture heavy post, I do seem to have got behind in posting. What's my excuse? Well, life is very busy here, what with the school holidays looming and all the extra activity that goes hand in hand with that, like special assemblies, sports days, Summer fetes, and not to mention the extra hyper activity of a kid with ASD looking forward to his birthday holiday in three weeks and counting. 

Anyhoo, here are our index cards for Days 21,22, 23 & 24. I won't blab about them, but if you have any questions, leave it in the comments bit and I will get back to you asap.

Now I know I said I wasn't going to blab, but this last one, is Wee Man's Stained Glass index card. It is another hot glue piece, but this time it is on a piece of acetate, the size of an index card, and coloured with promarkers. We got the idea from Pamela Ritter Gilfillen, when she commented on his first hot glue card, saying it reminded her of stained glass. Thanks for the inspiration Pam :D

Now I want to share my latest Anti Journal page with you.

The prompt is Pixelate an Image'

I couldn't figure out how to do that, so I'm pretending that this is a pixelated image of a multicoloured carpet! Lol. Think it works? haha. Anyway, I enjoyed colouring all the wee squares with my gel pens. It took quite a few hours. Now I'm going tohave fun doing the next prompt there, Paint using a plastic building block. 

Right, I'm off to see what Carolyn and Karen have been upto lately.

Week 2 Summer of Colour

Pink + Pink + Orange

This week our colour theme from Kristin's Summer of Colour challenge is, as above; and how striking they are together, don't you think?

Again, I decided to use a handy index card, seeing as how the Index Card A Day (ICAD) challenge is in full swing, and on day 17, as we speak.

I used Guava pink Gelato on the text paper background, and for the lettering and doodles, I used a deep pink Stabilo Fineliner and an orange Stabilo Fineliner. 

I envisioned it as a lot more striking than it seems, but alas, it looks rather washed out in this photo. I promise, it is brighter irl. In fact, the Guava pink is rather a lovely colour. 

Thank you for the colour choice Kristin, they clash beautifully! :D

Now, as it is Wednesday, I also have an Anti Journal spread to show you.

I rather love how this looks. I used a home made quill pen and black acrylic paint, (because I didn't have any ink), that I thinned down with water to make it easier to use. 

I was inspired to this by Tammy Garcia's fabulous, and free Draw Your Words Workshop on her blog.

The actual page prompt on the left, was Shout Colourful Language, but I spread to both pages, and on the right at the bottom it says, Uglify Beauty,  Most of the black splodges were already there; I just added to them and enhanced them a little. 

Btw, under the feather is the letter G for GOLD, (just in case you thought I'd written 'old purple', lol)

Anti Journal Pages and Index Cards

Hello Everyone

I would like to share a couple of fun pages with you today 

The prompt here is, 'These are black words', so I wrote the word Black in twenty five different languages. 

And the prompt for this one

was to gradually simplify a sketch or pattern.

I chose a zentangle pattern called 'Diamond Panes' created by Margaret Bremner in 2011. 

As always, I am looking forward to seeing what Carolyn and Karen have been up to with their  journals.

Days 9 and 10 Index Cards

Wee Man's Day 9

is a Texture Paste Bus, This is a, 'first' for Wee Man. A lolly stick was used to spread the gritty paste through a stencil. It was fun to do and a joy to see the great results that Wee Man achieved.

My Day 9

is Carrot and Lemon - I used my Lemon Gellato to paint my carrots using a fab tutorial by Tracey Fletcher King. I just kept adding layers to try and get deeper shades and used a white signo pen for the highlights. I used a Faber Castell Pitt Pen, a Copic Multiliner and a Uni-ball Eye for all the inky bits.

Wee Man's Day 10

is one of our favourites so far.

My Day 10

is one of my least favourites.

I used the prompt 'Eggplant & Ginger' I used a burnt orange Inktense pencil and an Aubergine promarker.

The words and colours on The Craft Barn's calendar challenge for June are

Lavender and Dragonflies

I have been determined since my January page to only use my gelatos and so far I have been successful, except this time I really wasn't sure I could do it. But I did :-D

I covered some card in old book paper and then I covered that in my Lavender gelato and smooshed it about with paintbrush and water. I then used my dragonfly punch to make many wee dragonflies which I glued onto my page.

I'm quite pleased with how the page looks. To see more June pages, simply click on the link above.

A Wee Pre Warning and a Final Flutter

What is Coming up Over the Next Few Weeks

Hello Everyone 

I hope I find you well and looking forward to a new week and a new month. 

For many of us, June is a particularly busy crafting month, with the start of both the Summer of Color and the Index Card a Day challenges. Also known as SOC and ICAD respectively. 

Wee Man and I are both doing ICAD together and I am also doing SOC. 

Both of these start on June 1st, but don't let that stop you clicking on the links above, or on my sidebar, taking a look around and joining in at any point you like. 

They aren't races or competitions; they are both for fun, stretching your imagination and are all about 'the doing'

Now, as well as the above, I am continuing with T on Tuesday with Elizabeth from Altered Book Lover and the rest of the 'T gang', Tag Tuesday and my fellow Taggers, and also with my weekly sharing of some Anti Journal pages with Carolyn and Karen.

Now the 'Wee Pre Warning' mentioned above, is just to let you know that my intent is to blog about everything as much as possible, some of the posts will be quite long, particularly on a Tuesday, and I'm hoping that you don't get fed up seeing this blog in your email or feed, perhaps, every day (now there's a challenge for myself huh?, Haha). 

Oh, and I'm also here to ask if you will keep your fingers crossed that I don't drive myself demented? Will you?

Now, the final look, for this year, at our Painted Lady butterflies;

well actually it's just one; the last one of four that made it out into the big wide world to go make more duplicates of themselves, I hope. 

The first three got swept briskly away on the wind, but this final one went on my hand and then I put it onto my wee Lilac bush.

Anti Journal Pages and Another Little Flutter

Hi there Everyone!

I hope this finds you all well. I am delighted to say that my migraines have stayed away for a few days now so I'm hoping that cluster has gone and may it be a long time before the next! 

Now this week I am sharing a fun double spread in my Anti Journal using the prompt 

'A Crowd of Faces'

I used a napkin, some faces from a sticker booklet, I cut faces from magazines, I used a magazine freebie to stamp some faces onto tissue paper, (that enabled me to reverse them too), and I stamped some faces from Rubber Dance stamp set Celestial Images also onto tissue paper.  I added some water colour to the stamped faces and I added watercolour to the remaining white spaces on the page.  

I enjoyed creating this and am indeed, still very much enjoying using this book. I've heard a whisper that there is a new one coming out after Summer, so I am excited to think that may be true, as I will definitely want to get it. 

I am looking forward to finding out what Carolyn, if her internet is behaving, and Karen have done in their Wreck It journals lately. If you want to see too, just click on their names and you will be transported to their wonderful blogs. 

In the meantime, for those of you following the Butterfly Project, here is the latest photograph, taken just yesterday of our four Painted Lady butterflies.  A 100% increase on the first batch. YiPpEe!

I will of course try to get some photographs when these beauties are released 'into the wild'. And then that will be the end of the project for this year, but Wee Man and I are definitely going to help with more next year.

We are going to be busy in June doing the Index Card A Day challenge, hosted by Tammy Garcia, which you can read all about over here,

And I will also be taking part in Kristin's Summer of Colour challenge which you can read all about over here. 

As well as keeping up with my regular things like T on Tuesday and Tag Tuesday and Wreck it On Wednesday with my Anti Journal, I am going to be juuust a little too occupied for more caterpillar rearing this Summer.

Anti Journal and Painted Ladies

Happy Wednesday One and All

I hope this finds you well and enjoying your week so far. I watched Wee Man and the rest of his school doing the first part of their annual sports events yesterday. It was wonderful. Every child took part in about twenty different activities for a specified time at each one, clocking up points for their House, aiming to win the House Cup. The way the children cheer each other on and seeing the older children helping the younger ones, and those less able, to complete the activities, is always so heart warming. 

I am so glad the rain stayed off.

The blue house won the cup, much to Wee Man's dismay, him being in the red house, but I think I successfully convinced him that his enjoyment of the day was far more important. *fingers crossed*

I am sharing two more pages of my Anti Journal with you this week and hope you enjoy seeing them as much as I enjoyed creating them. 

This one is basically, 'Colour by Number'

And this one is, Voices in a Public Place ~ in other words - eavesdropping, lol.

Here is an update on our second batch of Painted Lady Caterpillars

As you can see, this time we have all five set in the chrysalides stage. 

Fingers crossed they will all successfully emerge as butterflys in about a weeks time.

I've already started to do my sun dancing, (not to be seen in public) lol, so that the weather may be warmer for them at release time.

Anti Journal Pages and a Little Flutter

Hello there :D 

You are there aren't you?

I missed last weeks post - in fact I missed most of last week full stop! I was plagued by migraines, having two a day on some days. Very bizarre, and very annoying. They take over everything. Every action, every thought.

But, this week is clear! Huzzah!! 

Now, onto business.

I have several of my Anti Journal pages I could share with you and have had a time of it trying to decide which to share today, *scratches chin thoughtfully*

In the end I decided to go with the two pages that are my most recent favourites.

The prompt for the first page was,
Bleed colours; place under a dripping tap
But seeing as there was a sudden heavy downpour yesterday whilst I was flicking through my journal I quickly cut out this page, splodged some acrylic paints on it and shoved it out onto the back door step

And this was the result;

tho' not the punched out shapes, you realise, lol :-D
The paint hadn't moved around as much as I'd hoped considering the rain was quite heavy, but it's ok.

I set the page to dry over night and then used a black marker to go back over the outline of the tap and the wording.
You may, (or may not), be wondering why I have some holes in the page.
Well, check out the second page I'm sharing, which just happens to be the reverse of this page.

Design by removing parts of this page

I used a large butterfly punch and then outlined them with oil pastels, smudging them a little with my fingers.

Now, for those of you who have been following my caterpillar adoptions *grin* I apologise for the late posting of the release photos - I hope my 'sick note' above will absolve me.
Here are the pictures I managed to take - it was quite difficult doing it one-handed; Wee Man's only concession to being so close was to hold the flap open for me, lol

They flew away so quickly I only got a glimpse and no footage. Wee Man was amazed. Not enough to want to touch them, but quite happy for them to go.

you may be interested to know that I got some more a few days ago and they are doing very well and growing just as rapidly as the first 'brood' :-D

Anti Journal

What a wonderful time I am having with this magnificent journal and I hope it shows in what I share and what I say.

Here are two more pages I would like to share with you today.

The prompt for this one was, 'Pour colours here' I sprayed the paper with water, added acrylic paints, more water and tipped the page up to get it to run down. I wasn't very successful at it but was happy with it anyway. I stamped using 'Water Droplets' by Ryn, went back over the black lines that were printed there, dribbled some dylusions ink and then spattered some white paint on top of it all.

This one said to 'Show off your true colours' The bird image and black plumage was already printed. I added the leafy feathers with Derwent metallics just pencil crayons, the white dots are my white signo pen and the background is done with some Pebbles chalks. I fixed it with cheap hairspray.

I'm looking forward to seeing what Karen has done in her journal, but I'll be surprised if Carolyn will have managed anything after falling and badly cutting her right hand :( Big ouchy! Sending best wishes for quick healing to her from me and Wee Man. You can visit her here to send her some love if you wish. 

Meanwhile, Wee Man and I have been looking after our steadily growing caterpillars. If you would like to see the first mention of them, have a look here.

We started with five caterpillars but now have just three chrysalides.

 We will be transferring them to a net habitat in preparation for their magical transformation into Painted Lady Butterflies on Friday; they have to be left untouched for  a few days to ensure the cocoons have hardened sufficiently. 

Isn't it cute? Actually it reminds me of a collapsible laundry basket, lol.
