Summer of Colour Week Six and Craft Barn Quotes & Lyrics Week 14

My piece today is done on an index card because I have been taking part in the Index Card A Day, (ICAD), challenge on Facebook and today's prompt was 'Darla Horse'; and with Kristin's colour palette of RaspberryTangerine and a Smudge, Splash or Pop of Lemon for week six of the Summer of Colour being posted, I thought that I would combine the two.
Furthermore, the new words at the Craft Barn for the Quotes & Lyrics challenge were posted on Sunday, and they are Imagination and/or Logic, so I thought - go for it - make it a triple hitter! So I did **grin**

A Darla Horse, made from wood, has become a symbol of authentic Swedish handicraft and one of Sweden's most popular souvenirs.

Just click on the link above if you would like to learn more about these beautifully decorated wooden horses.

Mine is much more simplistic

I traced the outline image off the internet, then coloured with watercolour paints and outlined with a black micron. The colours seemed to weaken the longer they sat, but they had looked pretty much right, to my eye, when I first mixed them *sigh*. My pop of lemon is the eye, nostril, flowers and some wee dots at the ankles; the 'raspberry' and 'tangerine' are the stripes. This is the final week of Summer of Colour and I would like to say thank you to Kristin for hosting this event again, for the fourth year, (my first), and I have thoroughly enjoyed it. I hope to participate again next year.

The words popped into my head and I think them fitting as I often look back at what I have created and think, 'if only I had done this or that, or not done the other' and I need to learn to let it go. I used Imagination as my word of choice for the Q&L challenge hosted by The Craft Barn. For those that can't read my chicken scratch, my quote says, 'don't let your imagination keep you in the past with 'if onlys' but let it forge ahead with limitless possibilities'.
I'm sure someone will have said them before, tho' not necessarily in that order, lol :D

Well until next time..........

Summer of Colour Week 5

The lovely Kristin at the Summer of Colour blog has socked it to us this week with a very vibrant colour palette of

Red & Royal Blue with a Smudge, Splash or Pop of Light Blue.

I had a rake through my stamps and came up with a very simple idea.

I  used the Road Map, stamped just four times, from Rubber Dance with a red pigment ink and then added clear embossing powder, heating to melt it, and then painted over with the royal blue from my Koh-I-Noor tier set.  While that was drying I stamped the word Souvenir, from the same stamp set, in light blue ink, clear embossed it and then painted over with the royal blue on that as well.  I thought the embossing would act as a total resist, but I think the pigment in my paint maybe so strong it has colourised the red slightly.  Perhaps.  I don't know.  But I am disappointed that the red has ended up looking slightly pink.  Hey-ho :)

And until next time.................
