Summer of Colour Week Six and Craft Barn Quotes & Lyrics Week 14

My piece today is done on an index card because I have been taking part in the Index Card A Day, (ICAD), challenge on Facebook and today's prompt was 'Darla Horse'; and with Kristin's colour palette of RaspberryTangerine and a Smudge, Splash or Pop of Lemon for week six of the Summer of Colour being posted, I thought that I would combine the two.
Furthermore, the new words at the Craft Barn for the Quotes & Lyrics challenge were posted on Sunday, and they are Imagination and/or Logic, so I thought - go for it - make it a triple hitter! So I did **grin**

A Darla Horse, made from wood, has become a symbol of authentic Swedish handicraft and one of Sweden's most popular souvenirs.

Just click on the link above if you would like to learn more about these beautifully decorated wooden horses.

Mine is much more simplistic

I traced the outline image off the internet, then coloured with watercolour paints and outlined with a black micron. The colours seemed to weaken the longer they sat, but they had looked pretty much right, to my eye, when I first mixed them *sigh*. My pop of lemon is the eye, nostril, flowers and some wee dots at the ankles; the 'raspberry' and 'tangerine' are the stripes. This is the final week of Summer of Colour and I would like to say thank you to Kristin for hosting this event again, for the fourth year, (my first), and I have thoroughly enjoyed it. I hope to participate again next year.

The words popped into my head and I think them fitting as I often look back at what I have created and think, 'if only I had done this or that, or not done the other' and I need to learn to let it go. I used Imagination as my word of choice for the Q&L challenge hosted by The Craft Barn. For those that can't read my chicken scratch, my quote says, 'don't let your imagination keep you in the past with 'if onlys' but let it forge ahead with limitless possibilities'.
I'm sure someone will have said them before, tho' not necessarily in that order, lol :D

Well until next time..........
................thanks for popping by to say 'Hi' *hugs*

  12. I live about 40 miles from a large Swedish community, and every home has one of those horses on their front porch, while they can be found in many of the shops, too. My neighbor across the street has one on her front porch, also. They are very popular where I live.

I love what you did with your darling horse for SOC and of course, I loved the Craft Barn challenge quote, too. It was a great entry and you captured both challenges well, and equally, dear Mo.

    1. How wonderful to live so close to such an awesome culture. My eldest lives in Sweden, and tho' I have yet to visit, I have tried to learn some of the language. Is it something you have attempted Elizabeth? It is a difficult one to get ones tongue around, but I do like languages. Many thanks always for your unselfish encouragement :o))

Thanks so much for your 2 lovely comments. I'm glad you like my take on Helen's card - have you got a pic of the one you did? Thank you also for your lovely comment about my heart attack. I am feeling a lot better today with no pain so far, and having slept a bit better last night and caught up a bit. I'm due for an angiogram this p.m. and depending on the result, they may let me go home tomorrow.

Thank you so much for your kind words - I had no idea I was such an inspiration lol!!

  27. Hi Mo,

I just saw your question on my blog. I'm hoping you can follow this. If not, I will prepare a tutorial for you.

I take it you want to create a stand alone page for your son. Here are the steps to do that.

    1. Go to Blogger. It's that big orange B at the top left of the page.
    2. Go to "Overview."
    3. Scroll down to "Layout."
    4. Open "Layout."
    5. Directly under header, you will see "Add a Gadget."
    6. Click on "Add a Gadget." Window will pop up, with your layout in the background.
    7. Scroll down until you see "Pages."
    8. Click on "Pages."
    9. Add a page (or more) and name it (or them).
    10. Preview to make sure this is what you want.
    11. If OK, be sure to click on "Save."

Do similar for whichever sidebar you want the link to go to.
    1. Under sidebar "Add a Gadget," scroll down until you see "Link List."
    2. Copy and paste the page URL you have just created.
    3. Move the link down where you want it, then Preview.
    4. If OK, click Save.

    I hope that helps.
