Summer of Colour Week 4, A Tag and a Landscape

The new colour palette for this week on the Summer of Colour challenge blog is Pink & Apple Green with a Smudge, Splash or Pop of Dark Green. What a luscious combination! 'Thank you' to our lovely host Kristin :D

Now before I show you my submission, I would like to thank everyone for their comments on my page last week, they are all so wonderful and very touching, and more so those about Wee Man's Index Card art. You made us both smile from (o ear to ear o) So, Thank you ((hugs))

I used a large tag which I covered in Apple Green Inktense pencil and then wet it down.  I mixed a nice shade of pink with my luscious Koh-I-Noor paints and drew some balloons on top of the green but it didn't show up very well so I drew some on card, painted them and then cut them out to layer onto the tag instead.  I painted on the strings with a darker green.  I stamped some bunting to the top of the tag with pink Pixie Dust ink from Memento, (what a lovely name ~ Pixie Dust). Unfortunately tho', that didn't show up very well either, so I painted over it with the dark green. I used my pink Wink of Stella brush to add some sparkle to the balloons, a ribbon tie, and to add some details on the bunting. I also used it to stamp some tulip heads and then painted some dark green stems onto them.

I am also linking this to Tag Tuesday, as the theme there this week is Garden Party and I think this fits quite well into that.

I hope you aren't bored yet, because I have been a very busy crafter the past couple of days and been very fortunate that what I wanted to acheive has gone to plan.  That being said, I would also like to share my submission for the Craft Barn's 13th Q & L Challenge with you, where the words this week are Path and or Horizon. We have to use one or both and use a quote and or a lyric in our work, whatever that may be. I am using a quote that has both words in it, and I'm quite chuffed about it, as it is the first time that has happened for me. (I think)

I did a very light sketch in pencil which I erased as I went along with my chalk pastels.  A lovely selection from Pebbles, called Basic Bright Shades. I applied and blended with cotton buds.  I drew the fence and sheep with a fine micron pen, which I also used for the lettering.  I 'fixed' it with cheap hairspray.

That's it, you can relax now, and if you stayed this long, ((extra hugs)) and thank you all very much for looking, and until next time..................
............thanks for popping by to say 'Hi' *hugs*

ps - If you have the time, maybe you could click on the links above and see what other people have been doing, spread some love, and perhaps think about joining in yourself. Thanks again, *hugs*

  3. I love how your balloons now sit above the tag, creating a bit of dimension. Wise rework!

And talk about impressed! I was very much so when I saw you had used both CB words in a single quote. Good for you. Of course, the path reminded me of a real road I sometimes travel. It's been dubbed the "Ribbon Road," and meanders in the same way as yours. Brought back some fond memories.

BTW, after I spent a LOT of time visiting British friends, I finally learned (or perhaps deduced) what "chuffed" meant. Had to laugh, because I hope all us colonists who live across the pond, get the true meaning.

    1. Thank you Elizabeth for your lovely comment. Can you tell my confidence is growing? I hope so.
'Ribbon Road' sounds like a lovely name for a place to trvel along. I hope it has an equally lovely destination.
I giggled at any deducing over 'chuffed' :D What did you think it was before hand? We all forget about the differnt meanings and/or possible conotations some words may have and has lead to some raised eyebrows or blushes I'm sure. ;)

  35. I know what you mean when you try something and it doesn't really work (or show up) - this often happens for me, but that's how we learn and develop I guess. And that's also where happy accidents come from! Super little tag for this week's SOC, I bet the shimmer on those balloons is lovely.
