First up, it's time for The Craft Barn's 12th Q & L challenge, for which they gave us the words Proud and/or Vintage. I chose the word, Proud. Also, we are to use a Quote and/or, a Lyric in our work. My quote cannot be attributed to any one person, but is often used as inspiration in sports. Today is another chance to make yourself proud. I think it could be applied equally to almost any activity.
The second part of my 'twofer', is from the Summer Of Colour challenge, where this week, Kristin has given us Coral, Teal and a smudge, splash or pop, of Bright White to use. I had problems at first, getting my head around what the colour coral was and how I could make it. But with lots of input from the fabulous people doing the challenge and others on Facebook, I got there, (I think). Not sure I could get the same again mind you, lol.
I had lots of fun stamping the flowers & leaves, and then coloring the flowers with my coral watercolour paint and the leaves with my teal inktense pencil, using my water brush. I went over some of the outlines with a pen, to sharpen them up a bit.
Please click on the links if you would like to find out more about the challenges, and if you have time, it would be awesome if you could visit some of the other blogs and leave some love.
Thanks for looking;
and until next time...............
.............thanks for popping by to say 'Hi' *hugs*
Yes Kristin has set us real challenge in our colour mixing skills Lol! a great SOC piece.

ReplyDeleteLovely piece and a clever task to combine the two challenges. I do far too little stamping, perhaps I should start playing with stamps a little more.

ReplyDeleteThank you so much Lynn, it was a lot of fun and I was happy with the coral in the end :o)
DeleteWell, I feel lucky, because I got a two-fer, too. I got to see your CB AND your SOC in one click of the mouse. Yes, that is definitely coral. Far better than the coral I made, I feel. You did a fantastic job. Now didn't you tell me you felt intimidated last week? You have no right to feel that way, because you make FANTASTIC art with a great quote.
ReplyDeleteBless you Elizabeth :)) You always make me feel good about what I have done. I think last week, I was intimidated, and ended up panicking into creating something. Anything. I'm glad I did, because it was another step forward in accepting whatever I do, but in another way, I really wish I had waited, hahaha. Thank you again for your lovely honesty ((hugs)) :o)
Deleteps - your coral is beautiful D
Wow, lovely use of our SOC colours! Love your quote and the detail in this piece is a-maz-ing!
ReplyDeleteThank you kindly Cindy :D I love the story about your prom dress :o)

Many thanks Valerie, it was a lot of fun, and surprisingly quick to do. In fact it took me much longer to get the coral mixed together.
DeleteYour tag is wonderful and the song a great 'foot tapper' ;)
Love your page, brilliant shade of coral (I have yet to do week 2....eek!)
ReplyDeleteThank you Helen - I expect you're super busy today then, getting it posted and linked up before end of play tomorrow. It will be as gorgeous as all your work I have no doubt :o)
DeleteWOW - 2 in 1 well done you. Think I am going to give up on the Craft Barn too much phaff to find quotes for me. BJ
ReplyDeleteThank you BJ, I'm glad you like my page.
DeleteI would be sorry of you had to give up CB,but I understand. You are always so busy with many projects and your club, it is just hard to fit everything in all the time :o))
Looks like you had a marathon of flower stamping and colouring! More patient than me... Reminds me of a printed material, a bit Liberty...

DeleteNo wonder you've got so many comments on this piece, it's fabulous in every way. The colours are great. I just love the whole thing, everything about it. Well done x x x
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Lynn. I didn't want to leave too much white, seeing as it's only supposed to be a pop, smudge or splash of it, haha. So I got carried away with the stamping. Good fun :o) xx
DeleteBeautiful, I love it :) the combo of the quotes with SOC is a great idea.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks Denise, it was quite convenient that I could work the two together.

DeleteI love this quote and the gorgeous way you have illustrated it. It makes me think of the song my girls sing a lot in school assemblies - it always makes my heart fit to burst when we attend one of the assemblies and they are all proper belting it out. It was a song I loved anyway but I just love the way the school has adopted it... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tms-ayMYzb8
ReplyDeleteThanks for the smile today and making me think about that!
Thank you SO much for sharing that with me and for the link to one of my own all-time favourite songs. It is such an uplifting song and perfect for children to sing in school I think. :o))
DeleteI never would've thought that were stamps. Love your twofer, those flowers look so cute and I love the quote.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. I think I would still be doing it if I had to draw them all, Lol :o)
DeleteThank you so much for visiting and pointing the obvious - only I could copy a quote wrong and THEN manage to have to restart the post all over !!! Your page is stunning must have taken ages and I love your Coral colour!! THANK YOU :)
