Creative Tuesdays - I Want To Go To.............

Hi there :D I hope you can join me on some virtual journeys around all the different places people want to go to during the current theme over at the Creative Tuesdays co-op, hosted by Michael.  The theme this fortnight is, 'I Want To Go To [------fill in the blank------]!

I am not well travelled, by many peoples standards these days; and as I don't have a passport I've never been abroad.  But as my 'Wee man' states, (think the literal side of his ASD here), at least I have been to a different country!  Well of course I have; I live in Scotland and we have been to London. Twice! Hahaha! Anyway, although there are indeed, many cities across the world that I dream of visiting, maybe, one day, the place that I choose to go to, whenever I can, is, the beach.

I love the sounds, and the smell, and the whole visual impact of it.  Especially on a breezy day.  It's a calm day in my picture, but that's only due to my lack of drawing skills, lol.  I also think the shadow isn't right.  It's in the right place, just not the right shape?  Can anyone please advise as to what shape I should have done it?  Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about my picture!  In fact I'm quite pleased with it. (Shock!)  LOL.  I just need some pointers that aren't above 'simple', as I tend to have found watching videos can get quite complicated.  I really did enjoy this.  Thanks Michael, for the challenge.  Also, thanks to Michael for this; my prize; ((cheesy grin))  which I just happened to use parts of, to create my picture.  I also used watercolour paints and Inktense pencils.  Thank you very much for coming to look.

And until next time..................
...............thanks for popping by to say 'Hi' *hugs*

  2. What a really nice painting, I wouldn't spend any time worrying about the shadow as that is how the sun is making the shadow in your painting.
It looks like an attractive beach and I hope the person who made the footsteps is having a lovely not-too-cold (well it won't be in Scotland then) swim.

    1. Thank you so very much Sheila! You have just made my day, by saying that. 'That is how the sun is making the shadow in my painting' That is so very true! I will remember that forever. even when I get it right ;)
Lol, I wouldn't go for a swim here either, unless it's EXTREMEly hot, but I have paddled a few times, Some hardy souls have ventured out and there are occsional surfers, but they're 'crazy' anyway, lol.

  4. I think your shadow looks great Mo, it really depends on where the sun is, as to where the shadow will cast so it will be different at different times of the day - yours looks like an afternoon shadow to me - which is a perfect time to visit the beach! Love your drawing. Hugs, Anne xx

We are heading up to Scotland in a few hours for a week so whilst I will see your posts I may not be able to comment. A xx

  6. This is so delicate and cute! I think it's human nature for people in Warm climates yearn for the sun to just go and hide some days, and for people in Cooler places to wish it would be a beach setting and beach weather all the time. I've been to Scotland once (Edinburgh) and I thought it was one of the most beautiful places in the world :-D The colors are lovely and I think the shadow fits the piece; it makes you think of where you'd want to sit and be comfy on the beach and enjoy the sun, but from the confines/comfort of the shade so you wouldn't get burned. Great job! <3 Donna

  7. Many thanks Donna for your kind words about my page.
We never seem to be satisfied with the weather do we, but I think that is because we cannot make it what we want. But thank goodness for that I say. Can you imagine what the sky would look like?! lol. Over my house for example, it would be sunny, cloudy and breezy enough to dry the wahing, but at night, between midnight and five am it would be raining gently enough to water my garden without the downpour that disturbs the soil. While over my neighbours house it would be blazing sunshine everyday, I'm sure. Utter chaos LOL. Well, it gives us, (Brits in particular), somethng to make conversation about. Thanks so much for popping by:o)

  8. Great minds think alike! I have a seaside theme but with shells. The shadow is just right with the sun and I love the addition of the footprints in the sand. I would be quite happy sitting under that brolly.

  9. Haha, as if you don;t have beaches there in Scotland! Well, ok, not long sandy warm ones with warm ocean waters, mind you. True.

Yes, when it gets particularly chilly, I can def think a beach sounds lovely, just not one with pebbles and cold like Brighton beach down South or something. :)

And yes, while England is not a separate sovereign nation in many respects, which le yet being a different country, it may indeed be that too if you countrymen decide it's not better together, but better fully devolved! I can't wait to read what happens. I can argue it both ways but not living there, it's up to the likes of you to decide, eh?

BTW, if you've got to go to another country's capital, I;d say London would be your anyone's best shot anyway! :)

thanks for your lovely write up. Your shadow looks perfectly fine. Maybe you are thinking of one that is more elongated but that all depend on where the sun is as someone noted above too. this one indicates the sun is fairly high, about 1-2 in the afternoon or so. The only advice perhaps is to consider that shawdows usually soften out to lighter colours on the edges which also become softer the further the shadow is away from the object that cast it. Oftentimes shadows' edges will even disappear if far enough away and if a long shadow but that doesn't relate as such to yours as the sun is not casting the shadow too far away from the umbrella.

One other thing to consider is that shadows make the ground look cooler as it blocks the sun. So, for example, your sand in the shadow coudl take on a bit of a bluey purpley cast. All depends on the effect you want. Anyway, just a few ideas to consider and try for next time, twinkle.

Again, so glad you got your box of goodies and liked it so much. Good As we all know, shipping across the Atlantic is not that cheap! Oh how I love my fellow co-oopers. It does make me very Mr/ Toasty indeed. :)

    2. You're welcome!

In answer to your question on the CT blog:
Well, you are 7 hours ahead and the one has all day Tuesday (MST) to sign up. Actually, you would have until 4am Wednesday your time as the sign up form closes at 9:00 pm here. :) So, I submitted my piece as about 6pm Tuesday evening here which would have been 1:00 am Wednesday your time. :)

  11. Hey, your birds look very similar to mine :) Great job on your beach front art! The colorful umbrella makes me want to get a tan right now - especially since it's raining once again in the beautiful Puget Sound...
