I knew what I wanted to do for this piece but needed to find a quote that fit. I found a quote, but it doesn't have any attribution. There are variations of it, but I prefer what I used ~ 'Passion Propels Your Dreams'. I think that is lovely quote, and very true.
I got my inspiration from Bibi and all the stamps I used are from Rubber Dance; a new company, with beautifully detailed, deep etched stamps, in red rubber.
I did my background with Neocolor 2s and smooshed with a baby wipe. After trying Bibi's 'easy face-lift technique', (which I've found isn't quite as successful as it was with the distress inks that Bibi used), I coloured most of the stamped areas with colouring pencils.
Thank you so much for taking the time to come and look. I hope you like what you see.
Now if you recall this post where I shared my wee boys detailed drawing of, Granny in the Garden, I would now like to share with you the ring binder we bought and decorated yesterday, to keep his art works safe.
We used Stayzon to stamp the VW campers, (we haven't found a proper bus stamp yet), and he stamped his name himself using my wee alphabet stamps. He has developed an admiration for dogs, but at a distance, and he loves spotted things, hence the choice of stickers used. He took this up to bed with him last night so that he could look at it this morning when he woke. Awww.
Edited: Thank you to all who commented or emailed me about a bus stamp. Who knew there were so many out there!? But the wee fella has chosen and our order has been sent. So it'll be bus stamping in my near future I think :)
Well, until next time.............
.........thank you so very much for popping by to say 'Hi' *hugs*
Love your page and the quote! The folder you have made for your little sweetie is great, too! Hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteMany thanks Valerie :D Most of the wok on the folder is his alone :) I will pass on the compliment x
DeleteThere is a bus stamp within the Urban Stamp range for DoCrafts, i have it in my stash. Was a release to celebrate the Queens Jubilee, the series is called Portobello Road.

ReplyDeleteMany thanks Gio :D
DeleteI love the page you created, the background colours are beautiful and the lady looks amazing.
ReplyDeleteThe wee man has created a beautifully decorated binder, he should feel very proud! I do know that Penny Black did a London bus a few years ago, it was a bus viewed from the front though, not the side and it was full of cute little animals....... Hugs, Anne xx
Ahh, thank you very much Anne, I'm so glad you like what I did.
DeleteI will tell the wee man you like his folder. I think he is proud of it ~ it's gone to bed with him again tonight, haha.
Thanks for the info about the stamp. I have ordered one from Urban Stamp, their Portobello Road one. I showed wee man a couple that other kind folks had told me about and let him choose.
Love n hugs xox
I can't see Princess KIKKI on Logan's folder, you do know she will be most disappointed. I will send him a sticker of her and of Bobby.
ReplyDeleteNow back to your Q&L picture, is that a stamp you used round the edges or have you handrawn it. I love the saying xx
No Kikki stickers on the sheet I'm afraid Lynn, so if you do have one, he will be delighted to use it I'm sure.
DeleteThe pattern around the edge of my page is also a stamp from one of Bibi's sets. I'm so glad you like it all, thank you xxx
TwinkleToes, this is a beautiful page for your journal. I am sure Bibi is very proud of you! Love your son's art binder. Hugs, Pamikins
ReplyDeleteThank you so much dear Pam :D I'm really delighted to see you here and hope you will visit again *hugs back to you* :o) x
DeleteThank you for using my stamps, TwinkleToes, and for trying the face-lift technique! It turned out really, really pretty!! :-D
ReplyDeleteI love the album cover you and your son made together. So adorable!! <3
XOX
Hey Bibi :D Thank you so much for your kind words. I'm not very confident with the distress inks, but would love to get a more crisp finish on the face-lift so will have another bash using the DIs. I AM quite happy with this page tho' with all the colours and the stamps of course, are sooo lovely to use. Now, what's next......haha
DeleteI will pass on the compliment. A new picture was added today, but I'm not allowed to share that one, bless. <3 xox
Lovely page, Mo....I love the border! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Serena. They are lovely stamps. And thank you for being my newest follower, I'm very flattered :-D
DeleteI am so proud of how you've made this ... And indeed the credit you're giving to wee man too... Beautiful work from talented beautiful minds x
ReplyDeleteAww, thank you Helen *hugs* I will, of course, pass on your message to himself ;) xx
DeleteHi Mo! Newest follower. Brrrrr cold here today - that was the flip flops I bought yesterday no doubt!!! Love your art journal page. That rainbow effect looks fab. Great idea to make a folder for Logan's precious art work - don't forget to put his age on the back of each piece. I know you are going to end up with a folder fit to bust. I used to scan stuff in to the computer and keep the very best pieces for prosperity. Hope you have a fab Bank Holiday weekend. Hugs Helen x
ReplyDeleteHi Helen :-D What a lovely surprise to find you here! And with very kind words about my page too ;-) We've had a few damp and chilly days here too, but I shan't blame the flip-flops, haha :-D The folder is being well used already and he has been adding the date to the pages ;-)
DeleteI hope that you're having a lovely weekend too with time for crafty makes :-D *hugs* xx
Fab page. Love the border and the colours. Great quote. Will check out the face-lift technique. :)

DeleteA great page and I love the 'Age of Aquarius' style of it!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Elaine, what a kind thing for you to say :-D
DeleteLove your quote and your smooched background, one to try...
ReplyDeleteThank you kindly, I hope you get chance to try it too :-D
DeleteLove the background colours, and the stamps you have used. I don't know that stamp company, but they are fab.
ReplyDeleteThey certainly are fab. I'm so happy you like what I did with the lovely stamps :-D
DeleteGreat quote and great page... So I need another colouring medium then.... oh dear!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Helen, I'm glad you like what I did, Sorry to be tempting you with Neocolours, but they are fantabulous. I was intruduced to them by Terri Kahrs last year whilst doing the 21 Secrets workshop. Terri has since released her part of the workshop, 'Secret Journal', for free, if you are interested, which you can find here https://www.youtube.com/user/PringleHillStudio/featured
DeleteIt is SO much fun :o))
Lovely quote, colours and stamps, especially that border stamp.
ReplyDeleteThanks very much Julie, it's a lovely border that is quite versatile I think :o)
DeleteThat's a wonderful page, love the colors and the fantastic quote.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the lovely comment Silvia :o)
DeleteA lovely page that goes beautifully with the quote.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much :o)
DeleteThe border on your page really ties everything together! I've had mixed results with smooshing with wipes, probably because I don't follow directions, LOL. The binder for your little artist is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your kind words. Keep trying with the smoshing it's great fun. I will pass on the folder compliment to the wee fella, he is so chuffed that people like it :o)
DeleteI just found some Neocolors 2 in my stash. They are supposed to be hard chalk. I had no idea I even had them, and I have no idea how to use them, but I will be trying the face lift technique when I finally get them out for a play. You did a fantastic job with both the art and the quote. I guess you can tell I'm running late because of my continued internet woes.
ReplyDeleteSuch a pain to have internet problems, especially when a lot of us use it daily, horly or minute to minute, haha. I would be lost without it, but not as lost as I wold be without my art. I do hope you try playing with the Neo 2's Elizabeth. I can imagine lots of fabulous smooshing and dabbing going on in your studio. Thank you for your lovely visit. I'll put the kettle on next time :o)
DeleteA beautiful page and the quote is lovely. I must try this technique it looks easy and fun and with possible unexpected results. Lovely folder by your little boy and I hope he enjoys using the new stamp.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much Carol, I have told my wee one that you like his folder and he said, "Another one!?" haha, Bless. I hope you have a play with the neo 2s. Bibi explains it all so easily, we can't fail to have fun with them :o)
DeleteA fabulous piece, love those colours and yes it is a beautiful quote too!
ReplyDeleteThought I'd be able to link mine too but the Craft Barn link has closed early :(
Such a shame you can't post your pictures, they are both so pretty. Thank you for your kind comments about my page :o)
DeleteGreat page, lovely colours and I love the quote! xx
ReplyDeleteMany thanks Lesley :D xo
